molo cloud pendant installation

designed by Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen for molo - @studio_molo - represented by Grape in Scandinavia

With their design of the cloud pendant, Stephanie Forsythe + Todd MacAllen combined a decorative and flexible honeycomb structure with energy-efficient LED lighting. The result is a mood-enhancing element for any type of decor. The guides below have been created to help you achieve a correct and beautiful installation. We also recommend sharing this page with everyone involved in the installation of your new cloud lamp(s).

How to assemble

Start the process by gently and evenly stretching the cloud shade in segments (see the videos below). This provides a harmonious distribution of the honeycomb cells. After hanging, each cloud lamp will take on its own unique shape. So expect variations. This is one of the things that makes molo cloud unique and exciting.

The molo cloud lamp in size x-large features an internal acrylic ring that helps maintain the shape of the Ø160 cm shade. Failing to use the ring may risk damaging the lamp. We recommend that two people assemble the x-large lamp.

How to position the shade

When placing the shade on its fixture, ensure that the flat side of the shade faces upwards and the wider end faces outwards. If this is not done correctly, the cloud will appear distorted when installed. The shade hangs relatively flat and waves slightly when installed correctly.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

- We recommend assembling cloud pendants on a clean, horizontal surface
- It is important to stretch cloud lamp shades in sections
- The flat side of the shade should face up
- The pointed end of the shade should face inward
- Do not attempt to compress the x-large shade with the ring installed

We strongly recommend watching the instructional videos above together with your electrician or installer. Incorrect installation can damage your cloud lamps.

Drivers and canopies

As standard, we supply the cloud lamps with a high-quality external on/off driver. Additionally, there is the option to choose from a variety of other types of drivers depending on the lighting control you desire or already have in your decor. If there is no option to hide the external driver during installation, we also offer various canopy solutions (e.g., the tube-shaped ones in the image above). Please contact us for more information about lighting control and canopies.
